DENVER GOLF NEWSLETTER l MAY

Covid updates as of May 15, 2021

New updates:

We will no longer provide single rider carts. If choosing to ride as a single, players will be charged additional fees.
We encourage players riding together to wear a mask when both riders are in the cart.
Cash will be accepted in the pro shops
Ball washers, rakes and sand bottles will be returned to the golf course.
Foam at the bottom of the cup will be removed. Players have the option to remove flag sticks when putting or chipping.
Sand bottles are back on carts.
Trash cans are back out on the course for your convenience.

Reminders of protocols still in place:

Pro shops are open so you can check in there or call to check in when you arrive. We will still accept credit card payments over the phone if you prefer not to come into the shop.
We will still limit the amount of people in the pro shops to 10 or less depending on the size of the pro shop.
Remain 6' apart for physical distancing.
Face coverings are still required in and around the clubhouse unless eating or drinking.
Driving ranges, putting greens and practice areas are open to everyone.
We will continue to disinfect carts, pull carts, sand bottles and rental clubs after each use.
Remember to empty the trash from your cart at the end of your round for the safety of our staff.

First Tee Is Hiring!

Program Coordinator

First Tee Denver is seeking an energetic and dynamic individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills to lead and plan on-course and in-school golf instruction programs. View our safety protocols here.

Job Duties

This position will assist the Director of Programming, the Director of In-School Programming, and other Program Coordinators with the planning and organization of in-school and on-course programs and serve as a lead instructor during these programs. Prior experience coaching golf is preferred but not as necessary as experience working with children. In addition to these main duties, as an employee of a non-profit, everyone is expected to help with other administrative and operational tasks including but not limited to: fundraising, event planning, donor stewardship, data management, and customer service. Volunteer Coordinator/Lead Coach

First Tee Denver is seeking a motivated individual with strong organizational and communication skills to lead their volunteer program and assist with on-course and in-school golf instruction programs. First Tee Denver is a non-profit, youth development program. Their mission is to impact and inspire youth academically, socially, and physically through the game of golf. They create and deliver innovative programs that reinforce life skills and academics during fun, interactive golf lessons.

Course Improvements

Harvard Gulch Golf Course Update

Harvard Gulch Pond and Irrigation Improvements In Progress

Due to the dry winter, some turf damage from construction has occurred. This has pushed the opening back to May 28th.

This project will provide the following benefits:

Conservation of potable water
New seating and viewing areas
Constant water circulation reducing mosquito breeding grounds, population, growth and development
Restoration of native species and wildlife
Additional character and a new challenge to the golf course
Improved irrigation equipment for less water usage and more efficient energy consumption
Improved course drainage

The new pump (under blue tarp) and concrete pad has been installed. The building structure around the pump went up in late April. #1,5,7,9 tee boxes were re-sodded. All irrigation on the west side of the course is operational now. Landscaping around the pond is in progress.

Kennedy Golf Course Safety Notice

Your safety is very important to us, therefore we have closed the damaged bridge on Creek #9 at Kennedy Golf Course.

The alternate route is still in place while damages are being repaired.

The bridge has been removed and taken to the contractors warehouse to make modifications. Concrete pours for the caissons will be done early next week. Sheet piling at the diversions to be installed by mid-next week.

Construction is expected to take around 40 days for a late May to early June completion. Much of the bridge work will be taking place off site.
